Creative Musings

Notes on Creativity

Art is shadow work that transmutes pain into beauty. Creativity is healing. Art is a safe place to explore and express all emotions. No feeling is taboo. It's about being sensitive to what your body is telling you, then using your art to set the emotionfree.” –Wordsarevibrations on Instagram

“Creative work can be energetically taxing, it requires divine and disruptive inspiration. There is an unfolding to art that changes how fast it can be completed. Its a part of the creative process to allow it to become what its meant to be.” –Joel Uili, Career Archetypes Substack
“The only thing stopping you from making your dreams come to fruition is giving up.” -Joel Uili

You can’t rush or pressure genius, you have to fuel it with inspiration, and creatively consume. Art cannot be put into a box or ‘mechanized’ it must take its own direction, on its own terms. Don’t force it, allow it to flow naturally, otherwise it will fall short.
Whatever idea you’re trying to bring into the world, that idea is a living creature, with its own wants, needs, desires, and drives.

To read like a Renaissance prodigy, read well and more thoroughly. Instead of speed reading, find that great book. It will affect you more than 100 bad ones. Nowadays, quantity is everything. Books hold life-changing and mind-altering ideas, you cannot rush through a masterpiece and absorb it thoroughly. Once reading is a consistent habit, you will come to read more- naturally. Note the people doing projects you like and believe in. That has something to do with your purpose/self. Writers, artists, philosophers, musciians, entrepreneurs. Surround yourself by them and their work.

Ideas

Dedicate a space to your interests/passion/art that is an inspiring shrine that will motivate you to revisit subjects. Make a space an expression of the values of your work (For me, that's surrealism, the taboo, philosophical, revolutionary, and vintage sides of things.) Ideas: My collages and art on the walls, my favorite artists and poems on the walls.
